Sanctuary is a personal painting about the kind of space I would want to retreat into: small, quiet, and entirely my own. Inspired by the structure of a bunk bed, I imagined a compact interior that could hold rest, privacy, and a sense of emotional comfort within a limited space.
I used a darker outer shell and a warm glowing interior to emphasize the contrast between the outside world and a protected inner space. Through color, lighting, and curved forms, I wanted the piece to feel intimate, calm, and gently removed from everything beyond it.
Exploring Mood Through Color
I also experimented with alternate color treatments of the same interior to see how shifts in hue could change the emotional tone of the space from warm and restful to more vivid and dreamlike.
